Physiofit is excited that this week, one of our specialist domiciliary physiotherapists, Kelly Wright from the Later Life team, attended the EU Falls Festival in Amsterdam following an invitation from ProFouND (prevention of falls network for dissemination). The European Union Falls Festival brings together leading academics, researchers, health care practitioners, clinicians, industry representatives and key stakeholders from across the globe to celebrate best practice research and innovation in the multidisciplinary study and implementation of falls prevention in older people. It was a real honour for Kelly to be invited to the festival and to represent Physiofit.

Kelly explains “The most exciting thing is that this event is subject specific, rather than profession specific and enables people from all backgrounds to share knowledge and learn from each other on a subject they are all passionate about, it’s also a great opportunity to network.”
Throughout the week she has taken part in discussions, debates and lectures on a number of topics including Improving transitional care & stopping elderly accidents, deaths and injuries, as well as looking at how future technologies such as virtual reality can be used to reduce the falls risk in older adults. There were two case studies where representatives from across all professionals discussed their role. During this, artists from More than minutes (@visualminutes) joined the team to create stunning visual representations of the discussions and copies of their work can be found below
'Our priority is ensuring that people who have something to learn from each other DO learn from each other’
Kelly can't wait to get back to share all the news with us and help all of the team to develop - so watch out for updates at our Falls Prevention classes in the future. In the meantime we are very pleased she has managed a few extra days sightseeing in Amsterdam before catching her flight home.
